THE Philippines is a signatory of several international treaties on intellectual property rights. One of the functions of the Intellectual Property Office is to maintain linkages and monitor development arising from these treaties:

Berne convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works
(Since 1951-Administrative Provisions; 1997-Substantive Provisions)

The Berne Convention is concerned in securing the effective and uniform protection on the rights of authors in their literary and artistic works.
