IP in the Digital Economy
As the pandemic further blurred the boundaries between our physical and digital worlds, gargantuan questions surrounding this new space require urgent attention and action.
How can laws best evolve with the rapid pace of technologies? What regulations are appropriate, without risking businesses from missing out on digital opportunities? How can we efficiently enforce the rights of IP rights holders and safeguard consumers? How can we create a vibrant, inclusive digital economy buiit on trust?
The search for answers is not an easy feat. While IPOPHL has been gaining significant headway in helping rights holders protect their IPs online, continuous dialogues between regulators, stakeholders, consumers and other concerned communities remain pertinent to the goal.
For its 2022 celebration of National IP Month, IPOPHL focuses on the digital landscape to emphasize the need of sustaining conversations to properly regulate the digital economy and ensure that a balanced and robust IP system is at the foundation of interactions and transactions that stimulate innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.
From this, it is hoped that the economic, social, innovative and cultural benefits derived from digital IP assets are captured for the growth of the country and the world.
