SRT Innovation Contest - YEAR 4
Sustainable Solutions: Unveiling the Power of Green Technologies
This year’s SRT Innovation Contest is about green technologies as sustainable solutions. Sustainable solutions are essential for addressing the environmental challenges we face today, and green technologies play a pivotal role in unveiling the power of these solutions. From renewable energy systems like solar and wind power to energy-efficient building designs and waste management technologies, green technologies offer innovative and scalable approaches to create a more sustainable future. By harnessing their power, we can reduce our ecological footprint, conserve resources, and foster long-term environmental and social well-being. Thus, patent information can be a valuable tool in finding SRTs on green technologies towards achieving sustainable development and addressing specific environmental challenges faced by the Philippines.
To ensure that the activities are demand-driven and respond to a real need for specific technologies on green technologies, the IP Business Services and Development Division (IPBSDD) of IPOPHL, will conduct a related study and publish the patent information-based technical report and encourage participation of individuals and industries in the Innovation Contest and Technology Expo and Symposium to showcase their innovations.
The SRT Innovation Contest will accept entries from Filipino-owned innovations that are categorized as green technologies or environmentally sound technologies as defined in the Agenda 21 – Chapter 34 (The United Nations Program of Action from Rio, 1992).
“Environmentally sound technologies protect the environment, are less polluting, use all resources in a more sustainable manner, recycle more of their wastes and products, and handle residual wastes in a more acceptable manner than the technologies for which they were substitutes.”
The Innovation Contest and Technology Expo and Symposium is a venue for technologies to be presented to potential adaptors/investors that will propel their commercialization. It recognizes Filipino citizens who contribute to the development of innovative and creative solutions to problems the local community or nation face.
