WORLD IP DAY 2017 MESSAGE: FILIPINO CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION KEY TO IMPROVING LIVES

Today, we celebrate the World Intellectual Property Day during the first ever National Intellectual Property Rights Month. I encourage you to join the Intellectual Property Office (IPOPHL) in promoting and spreading the awareness about the importance and respect for intellectual property.
The IP system and innovation are inextricably linked. So long as there are creative and innovative minds, the IP system potentially serves to protect their work. Innovation is thus encouraged for social, cultural, technological, and economic progress. Everyone is encouraged to innovate, and the IPOPHL as part of national and global IP ecosystem is no exception. We cannot be left behind while the world shrinks and we become one global society.
Thus, the Philippines must step up its game. We are a creative and innovative people capable of creating formidable competition with other countries. We must look forward and churn out innovations that meet the needs of our countrymen and are likewise significant in this global village. Filipino creativity and innovation are key to improving lives.
