IPOPHL AND PHILJA ORGANIZE RTD ON IPR ENFORCEMENT
10 April 2017
Director General Josephine Santiago delivered a talk before Judges of the special commercial courts of the National Capital Judicial Region in a roundtable discussion (RTD) co-organized with the Philippine Judicial Academy from April 6 to 7, 2017 at the Diamond Hotel. The IPOPHL executive discussed topics on general and substantive law issues, higher penalties provided for under the Cybercrime Prevention Act and practice of law at IPOPHL, among others. DG Santiago also touched on IP enforcement, thanking all government enforcement agencies in the executive and the judiciary branches for their cooperation and commitment to help foster respect for IP rights. She said that as IPOPHL celebrates its 20th year of creation under RA 8293 or the IP Code of the Philippines, it has generated substantial gains toward administering an efficient and effective IP system in the country. The two-day RTD tackled issues and concerns affecting prosecution and disposition of IP cases, as well as IP related laws, rules and regulations. The forum also allowed an exchange of best practices on IP rights enforcement, especially those relating to the expeditious resolution of cases.
