Published on August 30, 2019
Ms. Chiara Accornero, representative of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center in Singapore, IP Disputes Section, WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, visited the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines last August 8, 2019 to promote the IPOPHL-WIPO Mediation Option Service to lawyers and parties in IP disputes.
The IPOPHL-WIPO Mediation Option Service is based on a Memorandum of Understanding on ADR between the IPOPHL and the WIPO for the referral of IP disputes pending before the IPOPHL to the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center. All cases filed in the IPOPHL primarily involving one or more parties domiciled outside the Philippines can avail of the WIPO Mediation. The service may be especially advantageous for international parties or parties seeking to settle related disputes in multiple jurisdictions.
After her presentation, Ms. Accornero met with officials of IPOPHL and discussed further collaboration on ADR.
