ASEAN IT Workshop Towards Online Business Services held in PH

The Intellectual Property Office Philippines (IPOPHL) is currently hosting the ASEAN IT Workshop Towards Online Business Services from November 14 to 18, 2016 in Boracay Island, Aklan. Representatives from the ASEAN member states are participating in this year’s regional training workshop together with delegates from Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, and Sri Lanka. The Regional Training workshop is organized and sponsored by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) with the assistance of the Japan Patent Office (JPO).

Deputy Director General Nelson P. Laluces formally welcomed all the participants and the WIPO delegation during the opening of the training workshop on November 14. Dr. Juneho Jang, head of the WIPO delegation, opened the workshop. With Dr. Jang are Mr. Daniel Cheng and Mr. Kyaw Zaw, both experts and resource persons in this IT workshop.  

The Workshop aims to improve online business transactions in ASEAN, focusing on the use of WIPO File for filing of Trademark and Industrial Design applications and WIPO Publish for data exchange; strengthen the data exchange among ASEAN and with other WIPO member states;  highlight WIPO solutions capability to support business operations and service enhancement through workflow optimization; and encourage the participation of ASEAN IP Offices as depositing Offices for WIPO’s Centralized Access to Search and Examination (WIPO CASE) which will enable patent offices to securely share their search and examination documents.
